I pretty much followed the inspiration's instructions except that I bought a decal for the tickmarks off Etsy. She mentions this but I'll mention it again. The stain (for the big numbers) bleeds A LOT. I wish I could go back and redo my first three numbers. Once I got in a groove, I was able to work with the movement of the stain. I'd also be more careful of the font I use for the numbers because it is very difficult to stain if your lines are too small. The decal was surprisingly easy to put on.
PS - If the rule of the thumb for predicting how tall a child will be is true then K will likely be around 5'6".
